Glossop Kinder Velo is a CTT affiliated cycling club based in Glossop, Derbyshire, in the High Peak, with over 60 members living in Glossop, Padfield, Hadfield, Simmondley, Charlesworth, Tintwistle, Hollingworth, Hyde, Mossley, New Mills, Oldham and Manchester. Some even live further afield. Glossop Kinder Velo was formed around ten years ago when members of two local clubs, Kinder Racing Team and Glossop Velo joined forces.
The core of the club’s activities are the weekly Sunday club rides throughout the year, and Thursday training rides in the summer. Club members also race in various disciplines: road, mountain biking, time trial, track, triathlon, endurance, Polaris and Trailquest; and as well as being regular cycle commuters, many also enjoy adventure cycling and touring.
The club meets socially at 8.30pm on the first Friday of each month for updates, discussion and general banter in The Crown, Victoria Street, Glossop (map). If you would like to meet us, pop along to the pub, or drop us a line first (email our membership secretary – see contacts). As well as cycling together we have social trips, fancy dress rides, the yearly club dinner and the all important downhill ‘race’ (who can travel the furthest without pedalling!).

The club organises and promotes two major open events over the racing year: a 25 mile time trial in Cheshire and the legendary lung-busting 3 mile hill climb on the Glossop ascent of the Snake Pass. The club also runs a summer midweek 10 mile time trial series in the scenic Longdendale Valley.
