Welcome To GKV Cycling Club.
Glossop Kinder Velo Cycling Club is an affiliated cycling club based in Glossop, Derbyshire, with over 50 members living in Glossop, Padfield, Hadfield, Simmondley, Charlesworth, Tintwistle, Hollingworth, Hyde, Mossley, New Mills and Oldham. Some even live further afield. Glossop Kinder Velo was formed around four years ago when members of two local clubs, Kinder Racing Team and Glossop Velo joined forces.
The club meets regularly on the first Tuesday of each month, for updates, discussion and general social in The Crown, Victoria Street, Glossop. We meet at 8.30pm, if you would like to meet us, pop along to the pub, (ask at the bar) or alternately give one of us a ring.(Contact Numbers) There are Sunday club rides throughout the year, Wednesday rides in the Summer and some club members also race in various disciplines: road, mountain biking, time trial, track, endurance, Polaris and Trailquest. These generally go from Glossop station at 10am, keep an eye on the web site for up and coming rides.
We also have two C.T.C. leaders and fully qualified B.C.F. coaches, and have recently joined the British cycling go-ride scheme and are now able to offer safe and well organised sessions for the younger riders in the area. these sessions run on Saturdays by fully qualified coaches on private land.
The club promotes three events over the racing year, a 25 mile time trial in
Cheshire; the 26 miles Circuit of Kinder time trial in the Peak District and a
3 mile hill climb on the Glossop ascent of the Snake Pass. As well as cycling
together we have social trips, fancy dress rides, the yearly club dinner and
the Down hill social ride.
