Glossop Kinder Velo (GKV) is a cycling club based in Glossop, Derbyshire, in the High Peak. GKV is affiliated to British Cycling and the CTT. GKV was formed around 20 years ago when two local clubs, Kinder Racing Team and Glossop Velo merged. We organise regular club runs, time trials, a hill climb and a sportive.

GKV Rides

We run a number of regular rides to suit different abilities. Details are usually posted on our Facebook page in advance of each ride. You can talk to the ride organisers and get a feel for what is involved in advance.

Club runs resume in April 2021. Join our first new members’ ride on Easter Sunday.

Early Birds

Club secretary Bryn leads a shorter quicker ride on Sunday mornings. We meet at 8 am and are usually out for between 2 and 3 hours.

Sunday Coffee

Joe and Paul lead a longer Sunday ride meeting at Glossop station at 10 am. Expect a long day with café stops and the occasional hipflask.

Hill Bothering

For as long as daylight permits, club social secretary Dave leads quick evening rides up as many hills as he can find.

New Members

Our introductory ride for new members usually meets at 9 am outside Glossop Station on the first Sunday of the month.

RASR

Retirees and Skivers Rides usually head out midweek daytimes at a leisurely pace.

DIY

Club members post their own ad hoc rides on Facebook. Keep your eyes open or post your own ride.
